FAQ

“I own a property that I would like to improve, what are my options?”

Many options can go into any home improvement project. At Gable Building, we will start by researching the existing site conditions to determine the proper professionals that need to be engaged in your home building activity. We can find out what you can and cannot do to your property. This could include historical renovations, additions, remodels, etc. Gable Building will review zoning, conservation, historical significance, lock coverage, and legal restrictions for the property even before we start working on designs with you.

“What towns do you service?”

Gable Building primarily services home owners in the Lower Cape Cod area. We pride ourselves with our ongoing relationships with our homeowners. We can make arrangements for you to even visit custom homes we have built on the Cape. These towns include Dennis, Harwich, Brewster, Chatham, Orleans, Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro, and Provincetown. However, we do not limit ourselves to these specific towns and are willing to branch out into other towns on the Cape based on the desires of our customers.

“How much does it cost to build a new home?”

As a custom home builder, there is no typical square foot cost, but rather it is a balance between quantity and quality. The specifics of your individual project and designs of each home owner will determine that balance. In custom home building, it is a mistake to associate a national average for square foot cost for a custom project. Custom home building means exactly that – custom building your home to your vision. For these reasons, it is critical to sit with a proven home builder professional, like Gable Building.

“How long does it take to get a building permit?”

Once the application is properly submitted, typically it should take no more than 4-6 weeks. A few factors will dictate the length of time for a building permit, however. The most critical aspect is the pre-planning that goes along with a professional custom builder. The time frame for a building permit to start with is determined by how long it takes to get through the various board approvals, design work for a particular project, and knowing that the work you have done will satisfy the building inspector so that the building permit can be easily approved.

“I cannot be there on a weekly basis to monitor the work you are doing to my home. How can I trust you?”

One of the services that we offer that sets us above the rest is our Online Project Viewer. From anywhere in the world, at any time, you can log into the Project Viewer portion of our website to see real time updates of the progress with your home building project. This is an extra step we take to benefit all customers who are out of town during building and remodels.

“Where can I find examples of your work?”

Please visit the Portfolio section of our website to see some examples of our work from: new construction, historic remodels, additions, remodels, custom woodworking, and more. We pride ourselves with our ongoing relationships with our homeowners. We can even make arrangements for you to visit custom homes we have built on the Cape.
